Cat Lai, Maybe about June 69. Big building on right was an old french hangar I believe. I remember a rocket attack here one night that did us all a big favor, it blew up the mess hall and we had to go eat with the Navy for awhile.
My barracks were only about 200 feet from the mess hall though. Another
situation that was too close for comfort. At Cat Lai you always wanted to put your boots or shoes in bed with you to keep the mud puppies [salamanders] from crawling in them at night. It was interesting to try to put your foot in as one of them was trying to come out. Don't know who got more excited me or the mud puppies!

This is the one of Vasquez. He is on the right by the garbage can, the guy facing is a guy that rode down on the barge with me when we brought some boats to Vung Tau can't remember his name off hand either.
